Ian Creighton
Ian began Crossfit in April 2010 after seeing a video of the 2009 Crossfit Games on YouTube. He was immediately hooked. Prior to this Ian had very little sporting or athletic experience having never done anything more than some running and push ups. He quickly became immersed in Crossfit and could not believe the results that it yielded. He went from being unable to run more than a few kilometres to running a 1:48 half marathon.
He truly believes excellent levels of fitness are attainable to anyone who is willing to put the effort in. When you walk into a Crossfit gym you see a unique side of people that that rarely comes out in other aspects of their life. There is something primal and liberating about those 5-30 minutes of pain that you put your body through.
Ian began his coaching career interning at Crossfit Hove in the UK (mainly because he was already spending 3-4 hours a day trying to pick up as much as could). During this time he worked diligently to develop his skills. In conjunctoin with this, he began a Crossfit group at University coaching other students for free in a bid to gain more experience and advance his understanding of the movements. These experiences and first forays into coaching proved invaluable once he moved back home to his native Glasgow and began coaching at his local affiliate.
In October 2011 Ian moved to Melbourne. He began training at Schwartz's within 24 hours of his arrival. It was his honest love for Crossfit and willingness to help others that led to him being offered a place on the Schwartz team.
