Nutrtion is a topic that evokes
much debate not only within the crossfit world but people generally. If
you keep a close eye on crossfit.com and or the crossfit journal you'll hear
them refer to both the "Zone Diet" and "Paleo Diet"
frequently.
The Zone Diet has been discuccsed in detail several times on both the main site and journal by Dr. Barry Sears, creator of the Zone Diet. The Zone Diet essentially preaches breaking up each meal into 40% Carbs, 30% Protein and 30% Fats ("good fats"). It states that by keeping these portions correct each time you consume food you bring balance to your insulin and glycogon levels, two hormones that control your energy levels and fat storage, as well as effect the balance of other hormones with critical functions. It can be tedious to follow and this is perhaps its greatest downfall. To follow the Zone Diet precisely you need to weigh and measure pretty much everything you eat. Zone enthusiasts will say that once you have followed the Zone Diet for a short time, you will be able to 'eyeball' most foods and know what the correct and required amounts of each food will be, but this can be difficult with certain meals and foods. The below is a Zone food pyramid show casing what foods are recommended and in roughly what proportions they should be eaten.

The "Paleo Diet" is another way of eating much discussed amongst crossfitters as well people generally.
Again, generally speaking it can be summed up by saying "eat natural" foods. The Paleo Diet encourages the consumption of meats, vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds and water. Pretty simple isn't it?! Any food that has been processed by man is a no no if you adopt the Paleo of eating. It creates controversy because it outlaws such foods as oats, rice and breads which many people consider to be healthy.
The Paleo Diet encourages us to eat as the 'caveman' ate millions of years ago. Supporters of the Paleo way of eating explain that over a two million year period human genes adapted to a diet in which all food had to be hunted, fished and gathered from the natrual environment. Though our environment has changed dramatically, the human genome has changed less than 0.02% in the past 40,000 years. Hence most people consume a diet that is not in line with what their genes require, leading to numerous illnesses and diseases. The below is a Paleo food pyramid show casing what foods are recommended and in roughly what proportions they should be eaten.

Try Paleo Jo! It's so easy not having bread and other grains - my diet is so much more varied now than it ever was before.

I'm interested in such offer,The sound quality in these podcasts is really poor. I feel bad about complaining about something that is free, but I think it is important.
